Fashion Illustration Update

It has been ages since I last posted and I am guilty. Again, I've been working up my illustration skills and if I may say, my work has improved.

Mainly because of the tutorials they have at IDRAWFASHION.COM and I've taken advantage of the free templates from the site. They are fun, beautiful and easy to use but I plan on making my own templates in the near future.

#1 Lately I have been reading the "How To Draw Silk and Satin" tutorial and I came up with this outfit. A silk dress with my personal edge (funky socks). I wanted it to portray an image of someone classy but also has this fun side. I hope this describes most of you.

#2 For this look, I studied the "How To Draw Stockings Tutorial". And as we all know that stockings look sexy and so does red. Mix it all up and you get showgirl/model/Beyonce.

#3 I made this illustration straight after the " How To Draw White Fabric" tutorial. Before that I seriously thought you just used a white color and then bang. Doing it this way makes it look a whole lot more realistic.
I hope you enjoyed observing these as much as I did making them.

How To Walk Like A Super Model

Walking like a runway model looks simple. And... it is. Maybe not as easy at first but it sure becomes a piece of cake over time.
And a whole lot of fun. Here are some very good modelling techniques that will have you strutting the streets, school hallways or even runways, like Naomi Campbell.

Tip #1 Chin Up
♡ Lift your chin slightly upwards. Just slightly though (You don't want to look like you're doing a warcry at the military).
♡ This will make your neck look longer and your forehead will appear smaller.

Tip #2 Focus on what's ahead
♡ Keep your eyes focused on what's ahead.
♡ Making eye contact with the audience would make you look unprofessional if you were at an actual catwalk.

Tip #3 Posture
♡ When walking, always remember to keep your Posture straight and just slightly relaxed.
♡ It is a good idea to LET your hips sway but never FORCE it. It will show.

Tip #4 The Heeling Effect πŸ‘
♡ If you wish to walk like a model, it is essential for you to learn how to walk in heels.
♡ As you walk, be sure to place one foot in front of the other and walk in long strides. Not helluh long strides.  Just enough to make sure your feet don't stomp onto each other.

Tip #5 Catch a rythm🎢
♡ Place your hands on your hips (optional) and catch a rhythm.
♡ Walk to that rhythm and be sure to keep it fun, flirty and confident.

Take there tips, put them to action and you will be strutting like a super model in no time ato all. Until my next post (love?), stay blessed and fabulously awesome πŸ’ŸπŸ‘Š

Fashion: Colour Splash

It's been a while, hey. I haven't done a fashion post in ages... well weeks but that's the same thing. So, this is what I have been up to.

I recently downloaded this mobile app called Sketchbook by Autodesk. It has a whole lot of tools that let you sketch and draw. On my last fashion post, Office With An Edge, I had used Edraw Max. I love Sketchbook so much that I think I'll switch to that... FOREVER.

I have been trying it out and here are the designs I came up with. This whole post, Colour Splash, was inspired by the fashion brand, Balmain. I just love how colourful their designs are. I'm just starting out here so be nice.😘

How To Take Great Selfies (6 tips and tricks)

The Selfie Revolution has begun but... your Instagram is not as "on fleek" as you thought it would. Huh? I'm very sorry to hear that but do not fear for Yolly is here🌟. And I'm glad to say that not all hope is lost. I'm here to save you from yourself... or the Chrome filter that's causing your photos to look like it's raining. ☔

The following are  my most precious tips and tricks that I hope will save you from your little Selfie misery.
The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. So admit it, your selfies aren't living up to your expectations. Trust me, I've had my fair share of days where the mirror said "uh huh" but my selfies said Na ah.

#1 Get a flippin good camera‼πŸ“·
Okay excuse my language but a lot of people might not stress this and it's quite important that you do. Having a good camera is the most important step you can take towards taking good photos. Even if it means upgrading to a later smartphone model. You need a camera that will set your photos ablaze and a 2 megapixel won't cut it.

#2 Light it up!πŸ’‘
Lighting is very essential. It's the blood of your selfie and without it,  the heart and everything else will die. After making sure you actually do look on-fleek, go to a place with good lighting. Always be positive that the light source is opposite your face. This will create a radiant effect on your face, making your skin glow.πŸ˜‡

#3 Lipstick!πŸ’„ Lipstick!πŸ’„ Lipstick!πŸ’„
Always have some shade on your lips when taking selfies or any picture generally. You might not often realise this but lipstick makes you look more... ALIVE. There is no real obligation to having red lipstick so you can go out and explore. My personal favourite are nude shades, especially brownish types because they look good on full lips like mine.

#4 Background Check Operation
I always tell this to my friends, "Make sure the background is clear cos socially media has no chill". We don't really want to see your dirty underwear hanging on your headboard.

#5 To the left⬅ To the left⬅
It's quite important to tilt your head to the side just a bit,  not necessarily to the left, and make sure you find your good side first. Why I'm making you do this is so your face won't look flat and 2D.

#6 Filter on... Just a little though
A few filters don't really hurt but don't really go as far as making you pic look " Chrome" (Thanks Aunt Zola).

In the second frame, I had applied these rules myself and the difference speaks for itself.πŸ‘Œ I'm a big selfie junkie and having my pictures look bad was emotionally draining for me. Trust me, having your mirror and your camera argue is not a fun experience.πŸ˜”

Apply these tips and be free to email me your difference. πŸ’— yolandadube64@gmail.com πŸ’— And who knows?  I might feature your 'before and afters' on my blog.
So don't be selfish guys and keep this to yourself, share it with friends and family and don't forget to spread the word about my blog.

Until my next post (Love), stay cute and stay beautiful.

Office With An Edge

Well guys, this blog is about to give birth to its very first post!!!  You can imagine how excited I feel right now.πŸ˜ƒ And as a ritual for first posts, I'll go ahead and say it,  "Hello World". So Love Fashion Light is a fashion blog in general, duuuh. But... What I will do is categorize every single blog post into the three. A Love post will be about the things I love, a book or movie review,  a Fashion post is like this one and a Light post will be when I shed some light on a certain subject or I share some wisdom with you. And living in Africa has made me learn about a whole lot of things about life that I shouldn't at my age. For this Fashion post, I've designed some outfits under the collection, Office With an Edge. What inspired me to design this collection is firstly my love for Back to Work collections. I figured I'd design my own and also add a unique edge to it. I have chosen three looks to showcase on the blog.
#1 The first thing you might notice about look 1 is the skin tight body suit. I have to admit though, this is more Edge than Office really. Don't look at me like that, it would look bland if it was the other way around. Besides, it's black so that's gotta count for something. What I love about it most is that it adds that Angelina Jolie effect. The soft orange belt and stripy buckle for colour. I chose this for number one and gave it the awesome sticker mostly because I am a huge fan of spies. Zoe Saldana (Colombiana) vibes. (Long dreamy sigh)😌 And the net coat was to add white to the black to keep things a little standard. For the shoes, I never believe in white shoes which is why I considered it quite a risk but it kind of worked in favour of Office in this case.
#2 Number two is the kind of outfit I would wear. In public. I love the the black thin belt thrust against a sea of red/orange. The blue fur lining also splashing colour. The dress's length creates room for my favourite piece. The Black Knee High Boots. And no, they don't represent hooker boots, thank you very much.
#3 This look is plain and simple. Much like clichΓ© office outfits but I love the small and cute top paired perfectly with a high waisted skirt. Short length for sex appeal. πŸ˜‰ That's it for now. I 3hope my illustrations inspire you to spice up your office look but please refrain from the skin tight body suit unless you're planning on pairing it with a skirt, a blouse and an appropriate coat. Until my next post which I have a feeling will be Light, goodbye, God bless and stay fabulously awesome. (x)Yolly Bae(x)
